Shri Durga Devi Aarti
Durge Durghat Bhari — Sant Narahari
Original text
The sacred text is kept in its original language.
Meaning
This aarti by Sant Narahari is sung during Navratri and at every puja of the Devi.
1. O Durga, without you this worldly life is very hard. O Mother, refuge of the helpless, spread your compassion. Free me again and again from the cycle of birth and death. I am defeated now — remove my troubles.
Refrain: Victory to you, O Devi, slayer of Mahishasura. You grant boons even to the gods; you are the saviour and the giver of life.
2. Search all three worlds and there is none like you. The four Vedas grew tired yet could not describe you; the six schools of philosophy argued until they were swept away. Still, you rush at once to help your devotees.
3. With a smiling face you are pleased with your servants; you free them from suffering and cut the bonds of worldly life. O Mother, who but you can fulfil our hopes? Narahari is lost in devotion to the dust of your lotus feet.
