Shri Ganpati Aarti
Sukhakarta Dukhaharta — Samarth Ramdas
Original text
The sacred text is kept in its original language.
Meaning
Written by Samarth Ramdas Swami, this is the aarti sung first at every puja and throughout Ganeshotsav.
1. Ganesha gives happiness and takes away sorrow; by his grace not even the word "obstacle" remains. He showers love on his devotees. His whole body is anointed with beautiful red shendur, and a string of pearls shines at his neck.
Refrain: Victory to you, O auspicious one. The mere sight of you fulfils the wishes of the heart.
2. O son of Gauri, a jewelled ornament adorns you. You are anointed with sandalwood, kumkum and saffron; a diamond-studded crown shines on your head and the anklets on your feet jingle softly.
3. Big-bellied one in yellow silk, with a serpent tied at your waist, with a straight trunk, a curved face and three eyes — Ramdas, your servant, waits for you at home. O Ganesha, worshipped by the gods, come quickly in times of trouble and protect us at the end of life.
